Common Settings In Popup SPT Sections
Updated over a year ago

Our Popups SPT Collection contains multiple types of popups that not only give you different styles but also different types of features. Inside the section for the popup, you will find settings. Some settings are unique to that popup, but here are the settings you will find in all of our Popup SPT sections:

Popup ID

All SPT popups that will be opened by a button press need to have a unique id for the page. This allows you to easily configure which popup to open by specifying the same id across the section settings.

When to show this popup

This setting group controls when the popup will be opened. Depending on the use case you may want to the popup under different conditions

Popup opens when..?

This setting controls when the popup is opened

  • SPT Button Press - when using other SPT sections from other SPT Collections, you can indicate that the button will open a SPT Popup. The Popup ID must match between the popup and the button

  • When page loads - this will cause the popup to open as soon as the page loads

  • Delay # seconds after the page loads - the popup will only appear after the number of seconds that you specify in the Page Delay setting

  • Page scroll percentage - this will cause the popup to open after the user has scrolled down a percentage of the page by the amount you specified in the Page Scroll % setting

  • Exit intent - the popup will open when the user is attempting to ext the page

Number of times to show the popup:

This setting will control how often the popup is shown (not including when it is opened by a SPT Button press). This is helpful when you do not want to be overly annoying. The way this works, is by storing a browser cookie for a user based on the SPT Popup ID. So if you are using the same SPT Popup ID on multiple pages, the count will be updated on each page. Likewise if you change the Popup ID to something you have never used before, then the count will start over. Also, since we are storing this information in the users browser, each browser and device will keep track of their own counters.

Active in date range

You can also indicate a certain date range that you want this Popup to be active for. This is good for promotions or limited timed deals. Note, the date and time specified are when the page loads.

Who should see this popup

This setting group is common across all of our Site Page Templates sections. We like to call this our "Smart Sections" feature that allows you to hyper target certain types of used based on a variety of conditions. Please check the guide to understand how to use this feature.

Sound Effect

Using a sound effect for certain use cases may be a good idea to get the users attention. The sound will play when the popup opens depending on the settings mentioned above.

Select a built in sound effect by choosing one from the Theme settng

Or use your own sound effect by using the Custom setting and then specifying a url to an MP3 file.
